~~Sequoia National Park. You know you need a getaway! Camping, Nature, Hiking!
October 23 @ 2:00 pm - October 25 @ 4:00 pm UTC-7
Sequoia National Park is amazing.
This is the perfect time to explore our own backyard. California has so much stunning nature, and camping is a covid-safe social activity.
Let’s talk about covid first. We will proceed with safety as paramount.
We have booked out the entire site so we will be able to control density, and distance on every level. Tents will be spaced from each other, and campfire will be divided among several so that distance kept there. Food prep will not be one single kitchen as normal but rather divided to several. Additionally we will forego the normal Pot Luck we do on arrival as the idea of food you did not personally prepare, with several people touching while serving, is just not a good thing at the moment.
All restrooms are flush toilets and NOT pit/septic toilets. Being real porcelain they are able to be cleaned often and regularly, and actually be clean. We will also have free hot showers available.
So we will very much manage distance, cleanliness/hygiene, and safety.
Our site ALSO is:
*on grass (most of it) and not dirt. As well as mostly shaded.
*on the river so we can take a dip whenever we wish.
* located close to (food) stores and restaurants so you do not need to totally rough it if the mood does not strike you.
About fires. The SQF fire is 65% contained as of Oct 8. Smoke in the park is down to s low level haze. Most all restriction and closures lifted (except for those areas closer to the fire)
And now you see the reason why the event not published earlier. Was waiting to see that park open from Covid, and Fires.
We will have a safe event all around.
Friday – – –
Depart LA when you can.
Google maps has it as 3:15 drive. Leave LA as late as 9PM and get there at Midnight.
We can be in our site as early as noon on Friday.
Sat – – – – –
8:00am to 5:00pm Enter the park and travel General Highway all the way to Grant’s Grove.
And hitting all the view and special points along the way.
Moro, Grant, Sherman, the groves, Beetle, Crescent Meadow.
Of course there are stunning waterfalls of Tokopah Falls, Grizzly Falls Roaring River Falls and Mist Falls.
For those with the hiking bug. In the Sat AM will meet and head out base upon desired difficulty/intensity.
We can stay in our site to 5 PM. So there is no rush to depart.
You can even go back into the park for the day and do what you missed on Sat and bookmarked.
Cost per person: Camping for 2 nights (Fri and Sat) $95 (cost is due to Covid) https://py.pl/11N8I8
OK . . . Tell me about food and everything else. What’s included?
The logistics of us providing food (as well as food prep issues with Covid) are just not feasible or safe.
Due to varied dietary needs, and food contact issues, it’s better if bring what you like and prep it. There will be grills available.
BUT there are also local options. No need to cook too much if you don’t want to.
Firewood: We will provide firewood to start out the eves. If you want a super roaring fire you can pickup some extra at the small store.
Kids? Sure. If under 18 they are at no charge.
Carpools? In the time of Covid carpool is more a challenge. People still request it. A Carpool resource of all attending goes out the week before (from experience earlier does not work). It can also be used as a Caravan resource to drive together in separate cars.
How do I pay?
Refunds? If notice is given 15 day or more in advance of the event start then 100% refund. Less than 15 days full Credit will be applied to most any future event we run.
I paid when do I get all the info?
